Novartis Tekturna HCT
Novartis Tekturna HCT is a fixed combination of aliskiren, an orally active, nonpeptide, direct renin inhibitor, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic for people with high blood pressure.
The recommended once-daily doses of Novartis Tekturna HCT are 150/12.5 mg, 150/25 mg or 300/12.5 mg, and 300/25 mg. After taking Novartis Tekturna HCT, blood pressure may be controlled in one week to and more likely 4 weeks. If blood pressure remains uncontrolled after 2 to 4 weeks, the dose may be titrated up to a maximum of aliskiren 300 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.
Why Novartis Tekturna HCT? The drug is prescribed based on potential risks and benefits. Patients with Stage 2 hypertension have a relatively high risk for strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, kidney failure, and vision problems. The decision to use a Novartis Tekturna HCT as initial therapy should be consider baseline blood pressure, the target goal, and the likelihood of achieving such a goal. A person's blood pressure goals vary based upon their risk.
HCT or hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic. The diuretic action reduces plasma volume while increasing plasma renin activity.
